Today is the end of an era as Tom retires! Tom is foundational to Ballard Food Bank - often cited by many as the heartbeat of the place. He knows his way around every bit of the warehouse and he creates a wonderful environment within it. He's patient and kind. We’ll miss him around the food bank but are excited for his next adventures.

Read MoreThe food bank has seen a massive increase in clients whose primary language is Chinese since last July. As we strive to create a welcoming, intentionally inclusive environment, our recent partnership with Chinese Information & Service Center (CISC) helps us serve clients from diverse backgrounds in culturally appropriate ways. CISC social workers have been able to both help us explain food bank policies as well as general navigation of government benefits and community resources in multiple languages.

Starting January 13th, we will be moving to a new card system. Rather than the series of colorful shopping cards, each household will be given one white card, alongside a red meat card indicating pounds based on household size. Limits for all other items will now be the same regardless of household size. This change to signage does not impact the amount of food available.
